Windows 11 is not done with its improvements. The latest Canary build 27971 of the operating system now allows users to display the Notification Center on any screen when using dual displays. Until now, Microsoft had imposed an inexplicable limitation.
Windows 11 continues to improve and recently introduced a quick toggle between dark mode and light mode. Now, Microsoft is addressing users with dual screens to enhance productivity or for entertainment like gaming. Clearly, the advantages of using two displays are significant.
If you have two screens, Windows 11 has a great surprise for you
However, the operating system has some limitations. For example, the Notification Center only opens on the primary screen, forcing users to rearrange their setup to quickly access alerts. This seems absurd considering many operating systems have handled this functionality by default for a long time.
The changelog for the Canary version of Windows 11, now available in the final 25H2 version, provides a clear solution to this issue. “We are extending the Notification Center to secondary screens,” states Microsoft in its documentation. Simply put, users will now be able to view notifications, access the calendar, or check the clock from any screen, without being restricted to the main monitor.
It’s important to note that this is a trial feature and its availability to the general public is currently unknown. However, since this new functionality is present in the Canary build, it suggests that it will soon be available to all users in the final version. This testing channel is typically used to validate features before they are added to stable releases.
The update also fixes several bugs, such as the file explorer crashing during transfers to a network drive. Another resolved issue is that media control buttons reappear on the lock screen after mysteriously disappearing in the previous version.
In short, Microsoft is well aware that following the end of Windows 10, which benefits from extended protection through Microsoft Defender, it must focus on Windows 11 to encourage users to adopt this OS that launched in 2021.
