Vivo finally replaces Funtouch OS: OriginOS 6 promises an ultra-smooth and intelligent experience
Vivo has just announced the global rollout of OriginOS, its custom interface that was previously exclusive to China. Goodbye Funtouch OS: the brand aims to provide the same premium software experience to all its users. To mark this transition, it unveils OriginOS 6, an update focused on fluidity, design, and artificial intelligence.
OriginOS 6: Fluidity First
The core principle of OriginOS 6 is simple: smoother and more responsive. Vivo introduces the new Origin Smooth Engine, an optimization engine that synchronizes key system modules—computation, storage, and display—to deliver a seamless experience.
The new 8+1 Ultra-Core Computing architecture prioritizes critical tasks, allowing for:
- a 18.5% reduction in application loading times,
- a 10.5% improvement in image stability,
- and a 106% faster data loading due to the Memory Fusion feature.
Animations are also becoming more natural: Spring Animation, Blur Transition, Morphing Animation, and One Shot Animation enhance the perceived fluidity with each gesture.
Lastly, the new Snap-Up Engine dynamically allocates computing power to refine touch responsiveness, a crucial aspect for gamers and intensive users.
Notably, the vivo X300 Pro, the first model running OriginOS 6, has already received SGS certification for sustainable fluidity after a simulation of 5 years of intensive use.
A Nature-Inspired Design
OriginOS 6 adopts a nature-inspired aesthetic approach: transparency, light reflections, depth effects, and motion. The new “vivo Sans2” font, compatible with 40 languages, introduces adjustable character weight—a first for the Vivo ecosystem.
Dynamic Glow and Translucent Color options add a touch of lightness and realism.

A new “Origin Island” appears at the top of the screen, providing real-time updates via Android 16’s Live Updates feature. It offers contextual suggestions, a Copy & Go function (to copy a number to call or message), and Drag & Go (to slide an image to a suggested app to continue a task).
Creative AI and Smart Photography
The new AI Retouch suite includes: AI Erase, AI Image Expander, and AI Photo Enhance, all within a unified workflow. For productivity, vivo AI introduces tools like: Smart Call Assistant, DocMaster, AI Creation, and AI Search.

Thanks to BlueVolt technology, OriginOS 6 enhances energy management and charge stability, ensuring consistent performance even under heavy loads.
Global Rollout in November 2025
The rollout of OriginOS 6 will commence in November 2025, in successive waves depending on the models. Until now, only Chinese vivo users had access to OriginOS, while international versions operated on Funtouch OS, often criticized for its lack of fluidity and outdated interface.
