Realme Neo 8: The upcoming model takes shape with Samsung display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
As the Realme GT 8 and GT 8 Pro have just made their debut in China, the brand is already gearing up for its next move. While the Realme GT 8 Pro is set to launch internationally in the coming days, it’s another model that has caught the spotlight: the Realme Neo 8, intended for the Chinese market.
Last week’s initial leaks hinted at a robust specifications list, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and a massive battery.
Today, a new leak has revealed a crucial detail: its display.
A Samsung Display for the Realme Neo 8
Renowned leaker Digital Chat Station has shared new insights about an unnamed Realme smartphone, which seems to be the Realme Neo 8. According to him, the phone will feature a flat 6.78-inch Samsung display with a 1.5K resolution, LTPS technology, and more pronounced rounded corners.
He also notes that the display will include an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a feature usually reserved for premium models, indicating that Realme is clearly aiming for the high-end market with this new Neo generation.
The device mentioned by DCS is described as “performance-centered,” which aligns with previous leaks suggesting that the Realme Neo 8 will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Qualcomm’s flagship platform.
The phone is also expected to sport around an 8,000 mAh battery, a substantial figure reflecting the current trend among Chinese manufacturers, alongside a main camera sensor of 50 megapixels.
An Ambitious Successor to the Neo 7
For context, the Realme Neo 7, launched in late 2024, took an aggressive approach with its OLED 1.5K 120 Hz display, Dimensity 9400+ SoC, 7,000 mAh battery with 80W charging, up to 16 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage. The Realme Neo 8 appears set to follow the same recipe… but with improvements.
Between the adoption of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, the introduction of a more generous battery, and now this Samsung display with an ultrasonic sensor, Realme is positioning its Neo 8 as a potential “flagship killer” — at least in China.
The launch is expected soon, and if Realme follows its usual timeline, the Neo 8 could be officially unveiled by the end of this year or early 2026.
