Perplexity continues its push into the realm of smart browsers: Comet, its AI-driven web browser, has officially arrived on Android.
After launching on desktop this summer and expanding access in October, the platform now targets mobile—a space where very few AI browsers have dared to go.
Comet: A true AI browser on mobile — not just a simple extension
Unlike Gemini in Chrome, which functions more as an additional layer, Comet is a complete browser that integrates AI into the core experience. So far, only ChatGPT Atlas has approached this philosophy, but it remains limited to macOS.
The arrival of Comet on Android makes it one of the first native AI browsers available on smartphones.
Similar to the desktop version, Comet for Android offers:
- real-time conversation with the Perplexity assistant regarding the current page,
- instant summary generation,
- contextual explanations,
- more precise searches by cross-referencing multiple sources.
Users can also summon the AI via a voice command, thanks to the voice mode that has already gained popularity in the desktop version.
This approach transforms browsing into an assisted experience where each tab becomes a personalized Q&A zone.
Not yet synchronized, but it’s coming
Currently, two limitations exist:
- no synchronization of history,
- no synchronization of bookmarks between the mobile and desktop versions.
However, according to Perplexity, this feature is on the roadmap for the coming weeks. It’s a crucial step for those looking to adopt Comet as their primary browser.
Upcoming features: voice agent and password manager
Perplexity is already preparing other major additions, including an agentic voice mode capable of performing complex actions like an autonomous assistant, alongside an integrated password manager. In the meantime, Comet remains compatible with Android’s password manager, allowing for a smooth transition for new users.

The mobile launch accelerates Perplexity’s transformation into a serious alternative to traditional search, where the browser becomes both a response engine, explorer, and analytical companion.
In a landscape where Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic are each vying to establish their vision of the AI browser, Comet represents a significant advancement: a complete mobile experience available now.
