Oneplus Pad 2: a new high-end tablet for China

At its major launch event, OnePlus not only unveiled its new OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Ace 6 smartphones, but also introduced the OnePlus Pad 2, a new premium tablet aimed at the Chinese market.

OnePlus Pad 2: A Somewhat Confusing Nomenclature

Before diving into the specifics, it’s important to note that the numbering of OnePlus tablets varies between China and the rest of the world. Internationally, the brand has already launched the OnePlus Pad 3, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

However, the model released in China under the name OnePlus Pad 2 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ — which technically puts it “one generation behind” on paper, yet it boasts performance worthy of a premium device in 2025.

Technical Specifications

The OnePlus Pad 2, with its ultra-slim chassis measuring just 5.99 mm and weighing only 579 g, features a 12.1-inch 3K display (3000 × 2120) with a dynamic refresh rate of 144 Hz, a touch sampling rate of 540 Hz, and a peak brightness of 900 nits. OnePlus claims it can achieve up to 144 frames per second on certain compatible mobile games.

Under the hood, the Pad 2 is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+, a high-end SoC that scores over 3.05 million points on AnTuTu. It features a large vapor chamber cooling system spanning 46,000 mm² to maintain optimal performance. Additionally, it comes with a robust 10,420 mAh battery that supports 67 W SuperVOOC fast charging.

Finally, the software experience is powered by ColorOS 16, enhanced with new features:

• Game Camera for capturing ultra-detailed screenshots or replaying the last 30 seconds of gameplay,
• Intelligent note-taking tools, handwriting recognition, and content extraction for students,
• Virtual Panoramic Display mode allowing three apps to be open side by side, plus two floating windows, support for WPS Office PC version, advanced multi-window functionality, and even custom fonts.
