One UI 8 is continuing its rollout. Android 16 is now available for the Galaxy M54, a mid-range smartphone. All seems to be going well for this major update, and we reveal all the new features.
The Galaxy M54 was listed as one of the smartphones and tablets compatible with One UI 8 even before its rollout. Now, Android 16 is available and carries the firmware number M546BXXU9EYI4. The rollout is happening gradually across various regions for One UI 8, which is also now available on the Galaxy A34 and Galaxy S23.
One UI 8 is available for the Galaxy M54: All the new features
To check if the update is available on your Galaxy M54, simply go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Soon, it will also be possible to manually install Android 16 via Odin, Samsung’s tool.
One UI 8 adds several exciting new features, while One UI 8.5 is currently in the testing phase. Unfortunately, some enhancements in Galaxy AI will not be available, such as those for Now Brief. The M54 is a mid-range model and may not have the hardware capabilities to support certain AI features.
Samsung also differentiates functionalities based on product ranges. Generally, advanced capabilities of Galaxy AI are reserved for premium smartphones like the Galaxy S series. However, the Galaxy M54 will still benefit from interface improvements, bug fixes, and performance optimizations.

• My Files opens on a new, cleaner home screen.
• Notes integrates an instant audio eraser for audio files.
• The Now Bar can display stock prices (via Google Finance).
• Now Brief can read summaries aloud and adds new cards, including a parking reminder and YouTube snippets.
• The Quick Settings panel has a slightly revised design.
• Quick Share opens in full screen with separate tabs for sending and receiving.
• Reminders adds new categories.
• Samsung Internet features a redesigned menu and tab bar.
• Weather displays new 3D animations.
