Motorola Edge 70 is here: the 6 mm smartphone that challenges the iPhone Air in Europe.

Motorola has finally unveiled the Edge 70, which was already listed on several European sites even before its official announcement. This smartphone, the international twin of the Chinese Moto X70 Air, aims to compete directly with the iPhone Air and the Galaxy S25 Edge in the ultra-thin smartphone market.

Motorola Edge 70: A sharp and durable design

With only 6 mm in thickness and a lightweight of 159 g, the Motorola Edge 70 stands out as one of the thinnest smartphones on the market. It is certified MIL-STD 810H for durability, features an aerospace-grade aluminum chassis, and has a front protected by Gorilla Glass 7i.

On the back, a silicone finish “inspired by nylon” adds a premium touch. Three Pantone colors are available: Lily Pad, Gadget Grey, and Bronze Green.

Under the hood, the Motorola Edge 70 is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, backed by 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB of storage. It runs Android 16 with the Motorola interface.

Its 6.67-inch pOLED display (2712 x 1220 px) offers a 120 Hz refresh rate, a brightness of 4,500 nits, HDR10+ support, and Pantone validated colors.

Three 50-megapixel sensors

Motorola focuses on a consistent camera setup:

  • 50 megapixels main (f/1.8, OIS, 24 mm)
  • 50 megapixels ultra-wide/macro (f/2.0, 12 mm)
  • 50 megapixels front (f/2.0)

The portrait mode offers equivalent focal lengths of 24 mm, 35 mm, and 50 mm, with digital zoom up to 30x.

Despite its size, the battery reaches 4,800 mAh, with wired charging at 68 W and wireless at 15 W. Motorola promises up to 50 hours of battery life, but this remains to be confirmed.

Price and availability

The Motorola Edge 70 is priced at €799 in Europe. The package includes a 68 W charger, Moto Buds Loop earbuds, a Moto Watch Fit, and a Moto Tag.

Despite an appealing design, sales of the iPhone Air and Galaxy S25 Edge have been disappointing. Motorola hopes to find the right balance between thinness and battery life, a balance that its competitors have yet to achieve.

The question remains whether the public will respond positively: while ultra-thin phones are desirable, most users still prefer slightly thicker devices with better endurance.
