iOS 26.1 has launched its beta 4, bringing two major features for testers. First, there’s the ability to manage the transparency of Liquid Glass. The second is the option to disable the swipe gesture that activates the camera when the iPhone is locked.
iOS 26 is now available for compatible smartphone users. While the Liquid Glass design may not appeal to everyone and cannot be removed, users have no choice but to accept its presence. However, this interface can sometimes lack clarity. Apple has introduced a new setting in Settings > Brightness and Display to manage Liquid Glass with an option called “Tinted.”
Here are two major new features awaiting you with iOS 26.1
This feature modifies the opacity behind notification windows and all other interface elements, as we discussed in previous articles. In simple terms, enabling this mode makes Liquid Glass much less transparent, making it easier to read. This is also a positive development in terms of accessibility. It is the closest solution to disabling Liquid Glass without abandoning the design.
iOS 26.1 also introduces a long-requested feature from users. If you own an iPhone, you know that sometimes the camera opens inadvertently when the smartphone is locked due to the swipe gesture from right to left.
This update allows you to disable this quick-launch gesture for the camera from the iPhone’s lock screen. Simply go to the camera options in settings to disable the swipe and thus prevent accidental activation of the camera.
Now, all that’s left is to wait for the official release of iOS 26.1, while iOS 26.0.1 has recently been made available to fix numerous bugs.
