Huawei opens pre-orders for the Mate 80 in China
Huawei officially opens pre-orders for its upcoming Mate 80 series in China. Users can now reserve the new models through Huawei Mall, major Chinese e-commerce platforms, Huawei Experience Stores, and authorized retailers.
To accompany this announcement, Huawei also unveiled the first official images of the Mate 80 series, including the highly anticipated Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design.
A first look at the Mate 80 Pro Max was shared by Yu Chengdong, Huawei’s Executive Director and head of the smart products division. In a brief video, he showcases the design of the new premium model, marking a significant evolution in the Mate series strategy.
Mate 80: A new Pro Max model with a dual-ring design

While Huawei traditionally offered Pro and Pro+ versions, the latter is replaced by a new Mate 80 Pro Max, which becomes the premium model in the series. This new model features a unique aesthetic with a dual-ring design on the back.

The first ring, located at the top, houses an impressive circular camera module with four sensors, the XMAGE inscription at the center, and an LED flash at the end. Just below, a second ring of similar size forms a shape resembling the number “8.” This lower circle appears to be designed for a magnetic charging system or an accessory interface, reminiscent of Apple’s MagSafe.

With the recent introduction of Google’s PixelSnap magnetic system on the Pixel 10 series, Huawei seems to be aligning with this new trend of magnetic accessories for Android smartphones.
A Completely Different RS Version

For those seeking an even more distinctive design, the Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design features a radically different style. The camera module replaces the rings with an octagonal shape, accompanied by a more pronounced Ultimate Design marking. This model aims to position itself as an ultra-premium product.
A Presentation Scheduled for November 25
Huawei has confirmed that the Mate 80 series will be officially unveiled on November 25, alongside the new foldable Mate X7 and several ecosystem products. All new smartphones are expected to be equipped with the Kirin 9030, Huawei’s latest generation of in-house chips.
