Huawei Nova Flip S: A Kirin 8020/8030 to Enhance the Mid-Range Foldable Experience?
The upcoming Huawei Nova Flip S may feature more than just new colors or expanded storage options. According to a leak shared on Weibo by leaker @SuperDimensional, the device could sport a more powerful processor than its predecessor.
The Nova Flip S is expected to be powered by the Kirin 8020 — already utilized in the Nova 14 Ultra — or even the upcoming Kirin 8030.
- The Kirin 8020 features a CPU architecture with one core running at 2.285 GHz, three at 2.05 GHz, and four smaller cores at 1.3 GHz.
- In comparison, the standard Nova Flip is equipped with the Kirin 8000, which has a primary core clocked up to 2.40 GHz.
In practice, transitioning to the 8020 or 8030 should enhance thermal management, provide improved 5G stability, and offer generally smoother performances, even while the Flip S remains positioned as a mid-range foldable.
Design and Colors Expected for the Nova Flip S
In terms of design, not much will change: it is expected to retain a large 6.94-inch folding screen on the inside and a square 2.14-inch external display adjacent to the camera module.
The Nova Flip S will likely come in new colors: Sakura Pink, White, Sky Blue, Shining Black, Sand Black, and a brand-new green.
Like recent Huawei models, it is expected to launch with HarmonyOS 5.1 pre-installed.
Launch
The Nova Flip S is anticipated to be released by the end of 2025, with more details on its specifications expected to surface in the coming months.
In summary, while Huawei may not revolutionize its flip device, adding a more modern processor and attractive color options could help it secure a stronger foothold in the mid-range segment of foldable smartphones.
