Unveiled at Google I/O 2025, Flow targets filmmakers and digital content creators.
To meet the demands of the seventh art, Flow leverages the most advanced models from the Google ecosystem. Veo for video generation, Imagen for image creation, and Gemini for text processing and instructions. In other words, it has everything needed to make Flow a comprehensive platform for AI-assisted visual storytelling.
A Rebooted Project
Flow is the direct evolution of VideoFX, an experiment launched in 2024 in Google Labs. Unlike its predecessors, it was designed for a wider and more professional usage.
In addition, Google has collaborated with several filmmakers to design and test the platform. Among them are Dave Clark, Henry Daubrez, and Junie Lau, who used it to produce short films.
These collaborations refined the functionalities, including resource management, visual transitions, and narrative coherence. The platform can now generate entire cinematic scenes from simple text prompts.
Flow assembles visuals, characters, dialogues, and sound effects with the precision of an experienced maestro. Beyond automatic generation, the user can integrate their own resources and modify them at will. The tool then incorporates them directly into scenes, respecting the provided guidelines.
Google Flow, With Professional Tools
In addition to generation, this platform allows users to control camera movements and angles of shots. Settings reminiscent of a director enable one to extend a scene or ensure visual continuity between sequences.
After an initial launch focused on the American market, Google has gradually expanded the service’s availability to many other countries. According to Google Help and official announcements on the Google Blog, the international rollout is now well underway, with coverage in most regions supported by Google Labs services.
The expansion continues, and Google indicates that geographic coverage is still being broadened with each update. The Pro plan, priced at $19.99 per month, includes up to 100 content generations.
The Ultra mode provides access to the latest Google models, including Veo 3 with integrated native audio generation. This more comprehensive plan is also more expensive: $249.99 monthly.
Additionally, Google launches Flow TV, a showcase dedicated to creations made with the platform. It allows users to discover clips generated by others, along with the associated text prompts and creative settings.
