Galaxy S26 pushed to February 2026 after the cancellation of the Edge model

Galaxy S26 delayed until February 2026 after cancellation of Edge model

Bad news for those eagerly awaiting the Galaxy S26: you’ll need to be a bit more patient. According to a new report from the Korean media The Elec, Samsung has had to revise its production schedule after canceling the Galaxy S26 Edge and opting for a Galaxy S26 Plus instead.

The result: the entire launch timeline has been shaken up.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra in December, others in January

According to the report, mass production of the Galaxy S26 Ultra will indeed start in December 2025, as originally planned. However, the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus models are not expected to enter production until January 2026.

Initially, Samsung intended to launch all three models simultaneously, but the removal of the Edge model and the late introduction of the Plus have delayed the hardware and software development for the latter.

Launch likely pushed back to February (or even March)

This decision confirms rumors of a global delay for the Galaxy S26 range. The Galaxy S25 was unveiled in January 2025, but it is now very unlikely that Samsung will maintain the same schedule this year.

Initial estimates suggest a launch in February 2026, or even March according to some sources. Nothing is official yet, but all signs indicate that fans will have to wait a few more weeks before they can preorder their new Galaxy smartphone.

Apple also changing its plans

Interestingly, Apple may also be adjusting its schedule in 2026. The company is reportedly planning to launch the standard iPhone 18 in the spring, while the iPhone 18 Pro would arrive in the fall, coinciding with the successor to the iPhone Air.

A welcome pause?

Ultimately, this slight delay may not be a bad thing. If it allows Samsung to move beyond the ultra-thin smartphone trend initiated with the controversial Galaxy S25 Edge, many users—and reviewers—will not complain.
