End of Free TV support for these PCs running Windows: here is the complete list

Free cuts support for Free TV on certain PCs running Windows. The operator provided the reasons for this decision on its help page: “As part of our commitment to offering you increasingly high-performance and secure services, we no longer provide technical support for operating systems running versions of Windows below 10.”

As Microsoft phases out support for Windows 10 with its extended free updates, Free has discontinued support for Free TV on PCs running versions of the operating system prior to this tenth edition. In simpler terms, if you have a PC running Windows 7, which has recently seen renewed interest from users, or Windows 8 or 8.1, there will be no technical help or fixes available for Free TV.

Free TV is no longer compatible with these versions of Windows

The company advises users to upgrade to either Windows 10 or Windows 11, which continues to be enhanced through updates. The goal is to ensure optimal use of the platform as well as support in case of difficulties. Below are the versions of Windows that Free TV has dropped support for:

  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 8.1

If your PC runs a version earlier than Windows 10, don’t worry. Free TV is accessible through web browsers such as Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge:

  • Safari, starting from version 13
  • Chrome, starting from version 128
  • Firefox, starting from version 78
  • Microsoft Edge, starting from version 128

However, if you want to benefit from support, you must be using certain versions or higher of these browsers. This workaround allows you to bypass the limitations of Free TV that no longer supports older versions of Windows before the tenth edition.

Free TV is therefore accessible from Windows 10 and macOS 10.3. This also applies for Linux through a compatible environment, although this option comes with restrictions that the operator does not detail. It should be noted that this operating system is somewhat niche, although its popularity has been rising, particularly because it supports a wide array of Windows games.
