The wait was long, but it’s finally here: Gemini arrives in Android Auto with support for 45 languages upon launch. This is great news for the infotainment system, which continues to enrich itself with new features.

Gemini is now available in Android Auto for everyone

It’s worth noting that the platform has 250 million users in 2025, and AI is central to Google’s strategy. To activate Gemini in Android Auto, several methods are available. The first is the voice command, either via the microphone button on the screen or by pressing and holding the voice command on the steering wheel. Note that Gemini must be installed on the smartphone for its features to be accessible.

Users benefit from enhancements in Google Maps, which itself is continuously adding new features. Gemini draws information from online reviews to answer questions about businesses and services along the way. The AI thus provides valuable information about restaurants, gas stations, and other establishments without requiring you to take your eyes off the road.

Message management has also been simplified with Smarter Messaging. Sending and editing texts is smoother while driving, allowing you to add details like arrival time or even emojis. There’s also automatic translation, making it easy to communicate with foreign contacts without juggling multiple apps while driving. Received messages are summarized automatically by Gemini, preventing the need to check your phone.

The chatbot also has access to Gmail to extract addresses used for navigation or summarize unread messages. Google Calendar, Tasks, and Keep, as well as other Samsung applications, now accept direct conversational commands through the assistant.

Vibe Creation allows you to create musical atmospheres. Drivers can ask Gemini for a playlist that matches their current mood or the weather. The chatbot taps into YouTube Music and Spotify catalogs to generate tailored playlists.

Finally, an experimental feature called Live Conversational Learning is starting its beta phase. Users who say “Hey Google, let’s talk live” launch Gemini for continuous exchanges to learn new information, brainstorm, or explore various topics. Gemini thus surpasses the usual question-and-answer interactions for smooth conversations during drives.
