LinkedIn launches people search by AI description
LinkedIn is continuing its evolution into a smart professional assistant. Following the launch of its conversational job search engine in May, the platform has announced a new feature: people search by description, fully powered by AI.
No longer do you have to rely on strict searches based on job titles or company names; now you can describe the person you’re looking for as if you were asking a colleague.
How does it work?
You can now enter natural queries like: “HR professionals recruiting profiles from France to the US.” LinkedIn analyzes your request using its AI model and suggests the most relevant individuals, taking into account your direct and indirect connections, professional proximity, and how closely their profiles match your description.

This functionality acts like a networking assistant.
Why is it important?
Previously, you needed to know a name, a specific job title, or a company to find someone. With this AI search, you can locate experts, mentors, recruiters, alumni, and potential partners, even if you have no specific information about them.
This is a game changer for students, freelancers, job seekers, HR professionals, or anyone looking to expand their network in a more targeted manner.
Deployment Coming Soon
This service is currently available for LinkedIn Premium subscribers in the United States, with plans for a wider rollout to all users soon, according to LinkedIn.
LinkedIn is transitioning from a traditional search engine to a true AI-powered professional assistant that can understand your needs and guide you to the right people effortlessly.
This might be one of the most useful features the platform has launched in years.
