Honor 500: the standard model confirmed with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and a massive battery

Leaks surrounding the Honor 500 series are solidifying as its official launch approaches. A smartphone with model number MEY-AN00 recently appeared in the Geekbench database, initially identified as the Honor 500 Pro.

However, according to new posts on Weibo from leaker Fixed-focus Digital and an engineer at Honor, this model is actually the standard version of the Honor 500.

All Honor 500 Series Equipped with Snapdragon 8 Chips

The leaker claims that all models in the Honor 500 series will feature Snapdragon 8 chipsets this year, marking a first for the range. The standard Honor 500 will utilize the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, while the Honor 500 Pro will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the most powerful chip currently available.

This upgrade positions Honor in direct competition with mid-range flagships from Oppo, Xiaomi, and Vivo.

According to Fixed-focus Digital, the Honor 500’s battery would offer an endurance “in the range of 8-something,” suggesting a capacity of approximately 8,000 mAh. This is an exceptional figure for a smartphone in this category, potentially making it one of the most durable phones on the market.

The leaker Experience More adds that the entire series will support wireless charging, along with complete IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance—a level rarely achieved in this segment.

An engineer from Honor’s performance R&D department, known as A Yong, confirmed on Weibo that the chipset of the standard Honor 500 would significantly outperform that of the Reno 15 Pro (equipped with the Dimensity 8450). He expressed hope that “performance standards in this price range progress quickly so that users can enjoy a better experience.”

A clear statement: Honor aims to set a higher standard for mid-range premium performance.
