Tim Cook confirms that Apple will integrate Gemini and Anthropic: Siri 2.0 will be a third-party AI hub

Apple is accelerating its artificial intelligence strategy. In an interview with CNBC following the release of the fourth quarter 2025 financial results, Tim Cook confirmed that The company plans to integrate more third-party AI models directly into its operating systems.

Our intention is to integrate more partners over time,” Cook stated, emphasizing that Apple “is making good progress” on the next generation of Siri.

Apple opens its doors to multiple AIs: ChatGPT, Gemini, and more

This year, Apple has already taken a major step by integrating ChatGPT (OpenAI) into Siri and other applications via Apple Intelligence, its generative AI framework introduced at WWDC 2024.

However, Cook now confirms that ChatGPT will not stand alone.

According to information from CNBC and Bloomberg:

  • Apple is working on an integration of Google Gemini, currently in development,
  • discussions are underway with Anthropic (Claude) and Perplexity AI,
  • and new partners may be added “over time.”

We intend to work with more partners. We want to provide users with choice while maintaining a high level of privacy and control,” Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, said.

A completely redesigned Siri for 2026

Apple plans to launch the “advanced AI” version of Siri next year, likely alongside iOS 27 and macOS 27. This Siri 2.0 will be based on a combination of Apple Intelligence and external models like ChatGPT and Gemini, enabling:

  • more natural and contextual responses,
  • cross-app tasks (e.g., “Summarize my emails, add events to the calendar, and share them with Marie”),
  • and proactive suggestions based on usage and local data.

This redesign is part of Apple’s vision for a hybrid assistant, where Apple’s model handles privacy and local context, while AI partners manage more complex requests (writing, image generation, searching, etc.).

M&A and AI acquisitions still on the table

Tim Cook also noted that the company remains open to strategic acquisitions in the AI field: “We are open to considering mergers and acquisitions if they contribute to our roadmap.” Since 2017, Apple has acquired over 30 startups specializing in artificial intelligence, including WaveOne (video AI) and DarwinAI (model optimization).

These acquisitions could increase as Apple seeks to enhance its internal models — particularly those running on its M5 and A19 Pro chips.

An Apple approach to AI: open but controlled

Unlike Google or Microsoft, Apple favors localized AI that respects user privacy.

  • Basic computations are performed locally on the device,
  • Heavier requests are handled via a Private Cloud Compute: a secure, temporary cloud with no user tracking,
  • Users can choose which third-party AI engine to use (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, etc.).

This “open but ethical” strategy aims to reassure users and differentiate Apple in a market dominated by proprietary models.

What comes next?

Apple is expected to announce new AI partnerships at WWDC 2026. In short: Apple is moving away from a “closed” AI model and adopting an open, modular approach, where users will decide which engine assists them.

This pragmatic strategy allows Apple to stay competitive in the AI race while maintaining its core values: control and privacy.
