The vivo X300 arrives in Europe: a steep price… and a smaller battery

Vivo X300 launches in Europe: high price and smaller battery

Following its launch in China earlier this month, the Vivo X300 has officially arrived on the European market. This new compact flagship from the Chinese brand retains most of its high-end features, but sees a reduction in battery capacity and a significant price increase.

Vivo X300: High Performance Powered by MediaTek

Under the hood, the Vivo X300 is equipped with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500, the latest flagship chip from the Taiwanese manufacturer, built on a 3 nm process. The display, supplied by BOE, is a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED Q10+ with a 1.5K resolution, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, ultra-thin bezels of 1.05 mm, and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the screen.

Compact and fluid, the Vivo X300 stays true to Vivo’s ergonomic approach, focusing on a balance between design and performance.

A Smaller Battery than the Chinese Version

This is where the disappointment sets in:

  • In China, the Vivo X300 features a battery of 6,040 mAh.
  • In Europe, the capacity drops to 5,360 mAh — an 11% decrease.

The manufacturer partially compensates for this reduction with 90 W fast wired charging and 40 W wireless charging. However, for a smartphone at this price point, the decreased autonomy may raise some complaints.

A Trio of Zeiss Cameras Still Delivering

On the photography front, there are no major changes: three 50-megapixel sensors on the rear, developed with Zeiss, including a main wide-angle, an ultra-wide-angle, and a telephoto lens, plus a 50-megapixel selfie camera on the front. The partnership with Zeiss ensures accurate color reproduction and excellent light management — strengths already praised in the Chinese model.

The Vivo X300 maintains its IP68/IP69 certification, ensuring resistance to dust and high-pressure water. It also features Android 16 with OriginOS 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and stereo speakers.

A Controversial European Price

The Vivo X300 is available in Europe in only one configuration, 12 GB of RAM + 256 GB of storage, priced at €1,049. For comparison, the same model costs 4,399 yuan in China, equivalent to about €560 — nearly half the price. Two colors are offered: Phantom Black and Halo Pink.

The Vivo X300 remains an impressive smartphone: compact, powerful, and featuring an excellent camera system. However, with a smaller battery and a doubled price in Europe, it may struggle to compete against rivals like the Xiaomi 17, Oppo Find X9, or even the Samsung Galaxy S25.

In summary: a technological marvel, yes — but at a hard-to-swallow price.
