Galaxy S26 Edge: The ultra-thin smartphone that was canceled is set to return in May 2026
After months of rumors suggesting the cancellation of the Galaxy S26 Edge, it seems that Samsung may have had a change of heart.
Initially meant to replace both the Galaxy S25 Edge and the Galaxy S25 Plus, this ultra-thin model was shelved due to disappointing sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge, which was presented as Samsung’s answer to the iPhone Air.
However, according to new information from the Netherlands, the Galaxy S26 Edge is indeed making a comeback — in a new form and under a revised timeline.
A “More Slim” Project Resurfaces
According to sources from GalaxyClub, the development of the successor to the Galaxy S25 Edge has resumed under the internal codename “More Slim,” clearly referencing last year’s initial “Slim” project. However, its development began significantly later than that of the other Galaxy S26 models, which naturally delays its launch.
Specifically, Samsung plans to launch a classic trio in February 2026 — the Galaxy S26 (or S26 Pro), S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra — before unveiling the S26 Edge a few months later, likely between May and June 2026.
In other words, the strategy will mirror that of the Galaxy S25 series, with a staggered release for the thinnest version.
Even Thinner, But At What Cost?
Few details have emerged regarding the final design of the Galaxy S26 Edge, other than that Samsung aims for a record thickness of around 5.5 mm, compared to 5.8 mm for the S25 Edge. The goal is to surpass Apple’s “Air” models and compete with Huawei in the ultra-thin smartphone segment — all while maintaining a battery expected to exceed 4,000 mAh.

It remains to be seen if the manufacturer will manage to avoid the bulky camera module that marred the previous model’s thinness.
A More Logical Strategy for 2026
By choosing to retain the Galaxy S26 Plus and delay the Galaxy S26 Edge, Samsung seems to be adopting a more rational approach:
launching its “main” line first before venturing into a more conceptual, experimental model.
The Galaxy S25 Plus, often criticized for being too understated compared to the “base” and “Ultra” versions, will indeed have a successor in 2026.
As for the Galaxy S26 Edge, it could become a pivotal moment for the series if Samsung succeeds in combining extreme design with solid battery life.
