Fitbit launches its AI coach Gemini: the conversational assistant that analyzes your health
Fitbit, owned by Google, has taken a significant step in connected health. This week, the brand rolls out the public beta version of its personal health and fitness coach, powered by Gemini, Google’s artificial intelligence.
Fitbit Premium subscribers using Android in the United States can now try this new assistant (the iOS version is coming soon).
Fitbit: An Truly Intelligent Health Coach
This is not just a button or a new menu; it’s a genuine conversational coach capable of answering your questions, setting goals, and creating personalized programs.
You might ask, for example, “Create a 30-minute upper body workout that I can do in my hotel room” or “Why do I feel tired this morning?”. The coach can even assist you in preparing for medical appointments by suggesting questions to ask your doctor.
The goal is clear: to transform Fitbit into a personal health assistant that can utilize your sleep, activity, and wellness data to generate relevant insights and advice.
A Still Limited Preversion
Google emphasizes that this version is not yet complete. Several typical features of the Fitbit app are currently missing:
- Health tracking: No menstrual journal, nutritional tracking, or hydration monitoring yet.
- Key scores: Stress management and cardio fitness scores are not available.
- Social network: Friends, groups, leaderboards, and badges are absent in this test version.
To mitigate this, Fitbit allows users to switch back and forth between the “Preview” version and the main app at any time—handy for returning to the full experience without losing any data.

Why This Is a Major Step
This is the first concrete demonstration of Google’s vision for the future of Fitbit: an AI-driven health platform centered on intelligent personalization.
Unlike other solutions like Whoop or Oura, this approach relies on Gemini, Google’s most advanced AI. The potential is enormous: in-depth analysis of your data, dynamic recommendations, and real-time scientific advice.
Google emphasizes a responsible, secure, and research-based approach. Early Premium testers will help improve the accuracy and relevance of the coach through their feedback.
A Glimpse into the Future of Digital Well-Being
Even though many functions are still missing, this Preview is not about completeness. The goal is to test the future now: that of an intelligent, contextual, and proactive personal health assistant.
Apple is reportedly working on a similar approach with its Health app. While nothing can replace a real doctor or personal trainer, this type of AI could fill the gap between appointments by providing quick, personalized responses based on your actual data.

In summary, this Gemini coach is not yet perfect, but it is a tangible first step towards a truly intelligent Fitbit. An evolution that could significantly change the way we understand—and improve—our health on a daily basis.
