OnePlus 15: The Lumo Imaging camera system replaces Hasselblad and aims for 4K at 120 fps in Dolby Vision

OnePlus 15: Lumo Imaging System Replaces Hasselblad and Aims for 4K at 120 FPS in Dolby Vision

With less than a week until its official launch in China, OnePlus continues to tease the OnePlus 15, this time revealing its ambitious new camera system.

Lumo Imaging: A New Imaging System by Oppo

The president of OnePlus China, Li Jie, confirmed on social media that the OnePlus 15 will debut the Lumo Imaging technology developed by Oppo.

This announcement marks the end of their collaboration with Hasselblad, which began with the OnePlus 9, though the Swedish brand’s design DNA—especially in color management and signature photo modes—will remain.

According to Li, the Lumo Imaging system embodies the highest technological standards within the Oppo group for imaging, with a special focus on depth, lighting, and color fidelity.

Three 50-Megapixel Sensors and 3.5x Periscope Zoom

The OnePlus 15 features a triple camera module with three 50-megapixel sensors, which includes:

  • a Sony LYT-700 main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS),
  • an ultra-wide OmniVision OV50D sensor,
  • and a Samsung JN5 periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom (equivalent to 85 mm), perfect for portraits.

This setup allows for HDR capture across the entire focal range, Pro XDR mode, and 4K recording at 120 FPS in Dolby Vision—a first for OnePlus.

Next-Generation Performance and Cooling

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, coupled with 12 to 16 GB of RAM. It also features a revamped Glacier cooling system with double-capillary layers to improve thermal dissipation, designed for intensive gaming.

The display is a 6.78-inch BOE X3, boasting a 1.5K resolution and an adaptive refresh rate of 165 Hz.

The OnePlus 15 comes with a massive 7,300 mAh battery, supporting 120 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging. According to OnePlus, this combination could facilitate nearly four hours of continuous 4K recording—a remarkable achievement for a camera of this caliber.

Launch and Pricing

The Chinese launch is set for next week, with a global release expected to follow in November—sooner than usual. According to a recent report, the 16 GB + 512 GB model is anticipated to sell for around £949 (~€1,090).

The OnePlus 15 seems poised to be a significant turning point for the brand:

  • end of the Hasselblad partnership,
  • entirely new 50-megapixel triple camera setup,
  • Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor,
  • 165 Hz display,
  • and ultra-fast 7,300 mAh battery.

If it lives up to its promises, the OnePlus 15 could be the flagship killer of 2025, positioned to compete directly with the iPhone 17 Pro and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
