Xiaomi has officially announced Android 20 and Android 19 for two of its smartphones, confirming updates until September 2031. The Chinese manufacturer now commits to supporting these two models for up to seven years.
While Xiaomi is preparing HyperOS 3, which unfortunately will not be available on certain smartphones, two models from its lineup will receive Android 20. Specifically, the Xiaomi 15T Pro will be eligible, while the Xiaomi 15T will only receive Android 19.
The Xiaomi 15T Pro Will Receive Android 20 in September 2031
The Xiaomi 15T Pro stands out as the smartphone with the longest official support. It is expected that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will also receive updates, aiming to compete as an iPhone killer with its 200-megapixel photo sensor. Xiaomi is determined to go head-to-head with the leading players in the mobile market, especially as long software support becomes increasingly important for many users.

Typically, Android manufacturers limit support to three or four years at most, even for flagship smartphones. Thus, promising seven years of system updates and security patches is quite exceptional. Owners of the Xiaomi 15T Pro and Xiaomi 15T will be able to keep their devices for much longer while accessing the latest features, optimizations, and protections against security vulnerabilities.
Although it may not be a primary focus for Xiaomi, supporting smartphones over many years reduces electronic waste. Users are less likely to frequently purchase new smartphones, limiting replacements and thus reducing pollution. Companies are increasingly committing to environmental sustainability in the face of long-standing planned obsolescence.
In short, if you have a Xiaomi 15T Pro or a Xiaomi 15T, there’s good news: you will receive Android 20 and Android 19, respectively. You still have several years to enjoy these models that stand out in terms of specifications and technologies, especially considering the exceptional value for money that Xiaomi consistently offers. For instance, the Xiaomi 17 Pro is priced at half of the iPhone 17 Pro and promises to be significantly more powerful.
