realme GT 8 Pro: 200-megapixel camera and 7,000 mAh battery for the brand’s most ambitious flagship

The realme GT 8 Pro is set to be one of the most impressive Android smartphones of the year.

Just hours before its official launch, scheduled for October 21, 2025, in China, realme has confirmed most of the key details of the model, including its Ricoh GR certified camera system, its massive 7,000 mAh battery, and its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip.

A Triple Camera System Designed for Creators

The realme GT 8 Pro will feature a triple camera system created in partnership with Ricoh, a first for the brand.

Confirmed details include:

  • 50-megapixel main sensor, Ricoh GR certified, equipped with a high-light-transmission 7P aspherical element, a five-layer anti-reflective coating, and a double AR layer.
  • Custom 1/1.56 inch sensor, f/1.8 aperture, with optical image stabilization (OIS).
  • Periscope telephoto lens with a 200-megapixel sensor (rumored Samsung HP5), also in 1/1.56 inch format with OIS, offering: 3x optical zoom,
  • up to 12x lossless zoom,
  • a minimum focus distance of 25 cm, ideal for close-ups,
  • and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with a 116° field of view, f/2.0 aperture.

On the video side:

The GT 8 Pro promises a cinema-like experience, capable of recording in:

  • 4K at 120 fps with Dolby Vision,
  • 8K at 30 fps,
  • and 10-bit Log 4K 120 fps for professional videographers.

Another major innovation is the detachable and customizable camera module, allowing users to choose between three designs — square, round, or “robot” — for a customizable look.

A Massive Battery in an Ultra-Slim Design

realme has confirmed that the realme GT 8 Pro will come with a 7,000 mAh battery, which is 500 mAh more than the GT 7 Pro from 2024. Despite this record capacity, the smartphone maintains a thickness of only 8.2 mm, slimmer than its predecessor (8.5 mm).

For charging, it offers 120W wired charging (0 to 50% in 15 minutes), 50W wireless charging, and direct charging to minimize heat during gaming. This balance of power, autonomy, and slimness is quite rare.

A 2K 144 Hz Ultra-Bright Display

The realme GT 8 Pro will feature a 6.78-inch flat OLED display with a 2K resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate. realme promises a record brightness of 7,000 nits, complete DC dimming, and advanced eye protection. Under the screen, there will be a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, faster and more accurate than optical readers.

Under the hood, the realme GT 8 Pro integrates the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with the R1 co-processor dedicated to display management and graphical performance. The device will offer up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage.

It will run on Android 16 with the new realme UI 7.0 overlay, bringing AI optimizations, improved power management, and a redesigned interface.

The realme GT 8 Pro will be offered in several colors, including white, blue, and green, with a 3D vegan leather finish. The smartphone will weigh between 209 and 214 grams, depending on the chosen version.
