Huawei preparing the launch of the Mate 80 series and a new 2-in-1 soon
The pace is picking up for Huawei. According to a recent leak from the reputable leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the Mate 80 series could be officially unveiled as early as November.
This new generation will succeed the Mate 70 series, launched earlier this year, and will mark a significant step in the development of Huawei’s in-house Kirin chips.
Mate 80: Colors and Release Date Already Discussed
According to early information, the standard Huawei Mate 80 will be available in black, white, and turquoise, while the other models in the series will maintain a similar palette.
The complete lineup, which is expected to include the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro+, and Mate 80 RS, is planned for November 2025, pending a stable production schedule.
This release would continue the success of the Mate 70, which marked Huawei’s strong return to the high-end segment featuring locally produced Kirin chips.
A New 2-in-1 and HarmonyOS PC in the Works
Additionally, Huawei is reportedly preparing to launch a new 2-in-1 model the same month. This hybrid tablet, offered in Moonlight Silver and Space Gray, will be part of the Hongmeng (HarmonyOS) ecosystem.
It will enable seamless integration between smartphones, tablets, and PCs, allowing smooth file and application sharing across Huawei devices.
The MateBook E 2025 in Development
Another leaker, Superdimensional, also mentions the upcoming arrival of a new MateBook E 2025, a convertible PC running HarmonyOS 5.1. This model, which will succeed the MateBook E 2023 equipped with Intel Alder Lake-U processors, may be powered by a Kirin 9000X chip entirely developed by Huawei.
The MateBook E remains one of Huawei’s flagship lines, featuring a detachable keyboard, built-in stand, and a hybrid design between a tablet and a laptop.
A Duo of New Kirin Chips on the Horizon
The Mate 80 series is expected to be powered by the new Kirin 9030 processor, a direct successor to the Kirin 9020 introduced with the Mate 70. While technical specifications remain under wraps, early rumors suggest improved energy efficiency, enhanced AI capabilities, and a new optimized 5G modem.
It is also possible that Huawei may reveal both the Kirin 9000X and 9030 at the same event, a strong indication of the Chinese chipmaker’s resurgence after several years of constraints due to U.S. sanctions.
