Samsung Galaxy S26: Launch Delayed to March 2026 Due to Development Delays
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 may not launch as soon as expected. According to a recent report by the German media Techmaniacs, the South Korean company is currently facing development and design issues with some models in the series, potentially pushing the launch back by about two months—from January to March 2026.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra Ready, But the Standard Model Delayed
Information suggests that the Galaxy S26 Ultra has completed its development phase and is ready to enter production. However, the standard Galaxy S26 has yet to finalize its design, causing delays in the overall schedule.
This setback may explain why Samsung is now considering a later launch, possibly in early spring 2026.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra Promises Noteworthy Upgrades
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to be a significant upgrade. It will feature a 10-bit display that can showcase over a billion colors, compared to the 8-bit display of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Under the hood, it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, along with 12 GB of RAM and a 5,000 mAh battery—unchanged in capacity but now supporting 60 W fast charging, allowing it to reach 80% in approximately 30 minutes.
The Galaxy S26 to Utilize the Exynos 2600
In contrast to its Ultra counterpart, the standard Galaxy S26 will likely use the new Exynos 2600 chip, developed in-house. This strategic choice aims to strengthen Samsung Semiconductor, which has faced challenges from competitors like Qualcomm and MediaTek in recent years.
The design of the Galaxy S26 is still under validation, but leaks suggest a minimalist and cleaner style that stays true to the brand’s understated aesthetic.
No Galaxy S26 Edge This Year
Another notable change is that the Galaxy S26 Edge has been discontinued.
The 2026 lineup will consist of three models:
- Galaxy S26
- Galaxy S26+
- Galaxy S26 Ultra
This simplification will allow Samsung to focus its efforts on enhancing the software and hardware differentiation of existing models while optimizing production costs.

While this rumor should be taken with caution, a delay for the Galaxy S26 series could allow competitors—such as Xiaomi and OnePlus, which plan to launch in January—to gain some breathing room.
