Apple unveils the new iPad Pro M5: more powerful, faster… and more ‘Pro’ than ever
Apple has just announced a new generation of its iPad Pro M5, the highest-end tablet in its lineup.
Just a year after the M4 model, this new iPad Pro introduces the powerful M5 processor, a chip promising up to 3.5 times more AI performance and significant improvements in video and connectivity.
A new M5 chip focused on AI and speed
At the heart of the new model, the Apple M5 chip succeeds the M4 — already a benchmark in the world of tablets.
According to Apple, this new chip offers:
- Up to 3.5 times more power for artificial intelligence tasks,
- Enhanced graphical performance, especially for photo editing and video editing,
- And improved energy efficiency thanks to a newly optimized neural engine.

In summary: the M5 is not just faster. It is designed for the era of generative AI tools, featuring a larger and more efficient Neural Engine.
New C1X and N1 chips: more speed, more connectivity
Apple has also made welcome internal improvements:
- The cellular version of the iPad Pro M5 now includes the C1X modem, a chip developed by Apple to gradually replace Qualcomm modems.
- The tablet also features the new N1 chip for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Thread technology, a key protocol for smart home connectivity.
Thread allows the iPad Pro to communicate directly with connected home devices — a first for an Apple tablet.
Read and write speeds have also been boosted, and the tablet now supports fast charging: 50% in 30 minutes.
Two sizes, two colors, premium finish
The iPad Pro M5 retains the ultra-slim design introduced in 2024:
- 11 inches starting at 1,119 euros,
- 13 inches starting at 1,469 euros,
- available in black and silver.
Pre-orders are open now, with an official release scheduled for October 22.
An unchanged design but a rethought interior
Visually, the new iPad Pro remains close to the M4 model released in May 2024.

However, internally, everything evolves:
- Bright OLED tandem display,
- Landscape mode front camera,
- Compatibility with the Magic Keyboard and the Apple Pencil Pro,
- And performance that makes this tablet a true computer in its own right.
With iPadOS 26, Apple continues to transform its iPad Pro into a productivity tool worthy of a MacBook.
The tablet now offers freer multitasking, floating window management, and ever-closer compatibility with macOS and desktop applications.
Combined with the Magic Keyboard and the ecosystem of professional apps (Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, DaVinci Resolve), the tablet becomes a true mobile workstation.

An iPad built for the future
Apple seems to be targeting users of the iPad Pro M1 or older this time, rather than the recent buyers of the M4. However, with the increasing integration of AI functions across the Apple ecosystem — along with future integrations of Next-Gen Siri — the M5 is already positioning itself as the most powerful tablet ever created by the brand.
