Honor officially launches the Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro: giant batteries, AI at every level

Honor unveils the Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro: giant batteries with AI integration

Honor has revealed its new Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro during an event in China. These two flagship models focus on outstanding battery life, advanced AI integration, and a dedicated AI button — a first for the brand.

Their international launch is scheduled for the end of 2025.

Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro: Extraordinarily Large Batteries Thanks to Silicon-Carbon Technology

The Magic 8 Pro features a massive 7,200 mAh battery, while the standard model has a respectable 7,000 mAh.
Honor claims that its software optimizations allow it to outperform competitors, including the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max with its 7,500 mAh battery.

With next-generation silicon-carbon technology, Honor manages to fit these gigantic capacities into a more compact design without compromising on aesthetics.

The international version of the Magic 8 Pro will have a slightly smaller battery of 7,100 mAh, and European models will drop to 6,270 mAh due to shipping restrictions on high-capacity batteries.

In terms of charging:

  • 120W wired in China,
  • 100W PPS on global versions,
  • and up to 80W wireless (with Honor’s charger).

A Dedicated AI Button and the Yoyo Assistant

One of the most notable additions is a physical AI button located on the side of the phone. This button can activate Yoyo, Honor’s intelligent assistant, by default or initiate the camera.

However, it is fully customizable: users can link it to actions like Yoyo Memories, a new intelligent storage feature that automatically organizes photos, videos, and documents — reminiscent of the “Essential Space” concept from Nothing OS.

Honor is clearly emphasizing AI to distinguish its flagship models, both in the assistant functionality, photography, and system features.

Camera: Subtle, Yet Promising Upgrades

The Magic 8 Pro retains the overall configuration of its predecessor, the Magic 7 Pro, but with a few enhancements:

  • 50-megapixel main sensor (fixed f/1.6 aperture, goodbye variable aperture),
  • 200-megapixel telephoto lens,
  • 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens.

On paper, nothing revolutionary, but Honor promises AI-based software improvements for image processing, stabilization, and scene recognition.

Under the hood, both models are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage for the international version.

They come with dual IP68 and IP69K certification, ensuring enhanced resistance to dust, water, and high-pressure jets.

On the software front, the Magic 8 models run on MagicOS 10 (Android 16). The interface features a “translucent and fluid” design inspired by Liquid Glass popularized by iOS and HyperOS, with depth effects, transparency, and parallel animations.

Availability and Global Launch

The Honor Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro will be available this month in China, with an international release expected by the end of 2025.
Colors will include a pearlescent white exclusive to the Chinese market.

Honor hasn’t stopped at smartphones: the brand also unveiled the Earbuds 4, the Watch 5 Pro, and three new MagicPad 3 tablets.
These products aim to strengthen the MagicOS ecosystem and ensure continuity between devices, particularly through notification, notes, and file synchronization.
