According to several preliminary tests, OPPO’s new flagship outperforms the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max in battery life, despite both devices having the same battery capacity.
Same Battery, Better Endurance
Tests shared by Novice Evaluation indicate that the Find X9 Pro lasted 7 hours and 18 minutes during a continuous usage test, compared to 6 hours and 49 minutes for the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max — both equipped with a 7,500 mAh battery.
Even the standard Find X9, which has a slightly smaller 7,025 mAh battery, performs slightly better than Xiaomi’s flagship with 6 hours and 51 minutes of battery life. For comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro Max lasts only 5 hours and 26 minutes, underscoring the dominance of Android smartphones in raw endurance.
The only competitor, the iQOO Z10 Turbo+, with an 8,000 mAh battery, achieved slightly better performance at 7 hours and 31 minutes.
When Software Optimization Beats Raw Power
Another test carried out by WhyLab further supports these findings. This time, the Find X9 Pro reached 9 hours and 30 minutes, while the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max managed only 8 hours and 24 minutes — more than an hour difference.
This result is surprising given that the Xiaomi utilizes the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which is built on a finer process and is known for its efficiency, while the OPPO runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500.
It seems that the software optimization of ColorOS 16 plays a crucial role. Intelligent CPU frequency management, prioritization of AI processes, and fine calibration of the display could explain this superior energy efficiency. One user on X summarized the situation well: “Both have the same 7,500 mAh battery. Xiaomi uses a more efficient processor, but it’s Oppo that lasts longer. The real difference is in the software.”
