Copilot revolutionizes productivity: AI creates your Word and Excel documents on the fly
Microsoft enhances its Copilot assistant on Windows with a major update, making it even more useful for daily tasks. Now, Copilot can create documents directly from a simple conversation and connect to your Gmail and Outlook accounts.
This new version is currently being rolled out to members of the Windows Insider program, with a general launch expected soon.
Copilot can now create Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files
With this update, Copilot can transform your discussions into shareable documents: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or even PDF. “With a single command, you can turn your ideas, notes, or data into editable and shareable documents without using other tools,” the Microsoft Copilot team explains.
When a response exceeds 600 characters, an export button appears automatically, allowing you to send the text directly to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or as a PDF, without the need to manually copy and paste the content.
This innovation transforms Copilot into a true creation assistant, capable of generating reports, presentations, or spreadsheets in a matter of seconds.
Integration with Gmail and Outlook accounts
Another significant addition is the ability to connect Copilot to your Gmail and Outlook accounts, allowing it access to certain contextual information.
Once your account is linked, you can ask Copilot to:
- Find all invoices from a company in your inbox,
- Retrieve a contact’s address,
- Summarize a conversation thread,
- Or extract attachments from Google Drive or OneDrive.
This feature is entirely optional; you must manually grant access through the “Connectors” section of the app.
Compatible services include:
- Outlook and OneDrive
- Gmail and Google Drive
- Google Calendar and Contacts
With this integration, Microsoft positions Copilot as an intelligent support hub, capable of working with both Microsoft and Google tools.
A step closer to enhanced productivity
This update aligns with Microsoft’s broader strategy, which is also preparing a new OneDrive app for 2026. This will feature a photo gallery, AI-generated slideshows, and integrated editing tools.
The goal is to place Copilot at the center of the Windows and Office experience, making AI a cornerstone of modern productivity.
