Microsoft 365 Premium arrives: Is the integration of Copilot at work the real revolution

Microsoft merges Copilot Pro and Office 365 into a new Microsoft 365 Premium subscription

Microsoft is finally streamlining its consumer offerings around AI and productivity. After initially offering Copilot Pro as a paid option for $20/month in addition to a Microsoft 365 subscription and later integrating AI into its Family and Personal plans, the company is now unveiling a new unified offering : Microsoft 365 Premium.

Microsoft 365 Premium: A subscription designed for AI-assisted productivity

Available for $19.99 per month, the same price as ChatGPT Plus, Microsoft 365 Premium includes not only full access to Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and 1 TB of cloud storage per user, but also the most advanced Copilot features : image and voice generation with GPT-4o, Copilot Podcasts, Deep Research, Vision, and Actions.

The package supports up to 6 users, similar to the current Microsoft 365 Family plan.

This is our most powerful offering, designed for professionals, freelancers, or demanding creators,” explains Gareth Oystryk, marketing director for Copilot Pro and Microsoft 365.

Copilot is coming… to the office, via your personal subscriptions

The real innovation may lie elsewhere: Premium (along with Family and Personal) will now allow activating Copilot in your professional Office applications.

This means that if you use Word or Excel at work, you can simply log in with your personal account to unlock AI features—all while adhering to your company’s security and compliance policies.

However, this feature will remain limited to the primary subscriber of the account.

The end of the line for Copilot Pro

With this launch, Copilot Pro will gradually be phased out. Microsoft will stop selling this plan targeted at “power users,” although current subscribers will not be automatically transitioned to Premium.

In summary, with Microsoft 365 Premium, the company further integrates Office with generative AI, positioning itself as a direct alternative to ChatGPT Plus, while offering the advantage of deep integration into the world’s most widely used office suite.
