Honor confirms the launch of the Magic 8 series on October 15 with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and MagicOS 10
Honor has officially confirmed the launch of its new flagship series, Magic 8, scheduled for an event on October 15 in China.
The Chinese brand will not only showcase its smartphones but will also unveil the MagicPad 3 and MagicPad 3 Pro tablets, the Magic Watch 5 Pro smartwatch, a new pair of Earbuds 4, and its brand-new operating system, MagicOS 10, based on Android 16.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5: The Powerhouse of the New Generation
The Honor Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro will be among the first smartphones equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. This same SoC will also power the MagicPad 3 Pro, making it the world’s first tablet to feature this high-end chip.
Meanwhile, the standard MagicPad 3 is expected to use the previous generation Snapdragon 8 Elite, while still delivering excellent performance at a more accessible price.
A global model of the Honor Magic 8 (model number BKQ-N49) recently appeared in benchmarks, revealing a configuration with 12GB of RAM and Android 16 running on MagicOS 10.
Honor Magic 8 Pro: A Powerful Photography Device
The Magic 8 Pro is shaping up to be an impressive powerhouse with exceptional photographic capabilities. According to available information, it will feature:
- A 6.7-inch micro-grid OLED display,
- 1.5K resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate,
- A massive 7,200 mAh battery compatible with 120W wired charging and 80W wireless charging.
On the photography front, Honor is going all out:
- 50 megapixels for the main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS),
- 50 megapixels for the ultra-wide angle,
- An impressive 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, also stabilized.
On the front, there is expected to be a 50-megapixel selfie sensor, designed for high-definition portraits and video calls.
The Magic 8 Pro will be available in four elegant colors: Rising Sun Gold, Azure, Snow White, and Velvet Black.
Honor Magic 8: The Standard Version, Yet Not Compromised
The standard version of the Magic 8 will retain the key features of the Pro model while offering a slightly simplified technical specifications:
- Flat 6.58-inch OLED display (1.5K resolution, 120Hz),
- 7,000 mAh battery with 90W fast charging,
- No wireless charging,
- A similar camera module with 50 megapixels + 50 megapixels + 200 megapixels.
Available colors will include black, white, light blue, and gold.
MagicPad 3 Pro: The First Tablet with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
The MagicPad 3 Pro will also be in the spotlight.
It will be equipped with:
- A 13.3-inch LCD display in 3.2K format (3,200 × 2,136 pixels),
- An ultra-smooth 165Hz refresh rate,
- A 12,450 mAh battery,
- And the new MagicOS 10 interface.
The tablet will also offer complete interoperability between iOS, HarmonyOS, and Android ecosystems, allowing for easy data and file transfers between different devices.
It will come with a smart keyboard, a free-form stylus, and will include Honor’s in-house E2 chip, focused on energy efficiency.
Three colors will be available: Starry Gray, Floating Light Gold, and Moon Shadow White.
An Ambitious and Strategic Event
With the presentation of six new products—smartphones, tablets, a watch, earbuds, and software—Honor is set to mark one of its biggest launches of the year.
The Magic 8 series symbolizes the brand’s renewal: power, advanced photography, massive battery life, and a connected ecosystem.
In the face of competition from the Xiaomi 17 Pro, OPPO Find X9, and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, Honor is clearly asserting its ambitions in the premium market segment.
