Windows 11 25H2: Full Deployment Arrives on October 14
The long wait is finally nearing an end: The 2025 update for Windows 11, officially known as version 25H2, will soon be deployed on a large scale.
While Microsoft officially released version 25H2 on September 30, 2025, the phased deployment has taken some time — but this transitional phase will come to an end very soon.
Windows 11 25H2: Full Availability Starting October 14, 2025
According to a message published on the Microsoft Admin portal, version 25H2 will be available for commercial organizations through Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) starting October 14, 2025.
The message states: “For commercial organizations, Windows 11 version 25H2 is available today [September 30] via Windows Autopatch and the Microsoft 365 admin center. It is also downloadable from the Microsoft Software Download Service and Visual Studio subscriptions. On October 14, 2025, it will be available through Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).”
Why This Date Matters
The availability of Windows 11 25H2 on WSUS is a key milestone: Historically, Microsoft has always synchronized the public launch with the WSUS release. This has been the case for versions 21H2, 22H2, 23H2, and 24H2. The current year’s delay (official release on September 30, WSUS on October 14) likely explains the slow rollout for regular users.
In short: if everything follows the usual pattern, personal users should receive the update around October 14, at the same time as businesses.
A Quick and Easy Installation
The installation process remains straightforward and quick. However, Microsoft notes that 25H2 is an optional update: it will not install automatically. To obtain it, users must go to Settings > Windows Update, find the update, and click on “Download and install.”
This update does not introduce any major visual changes or groundbreaking features.
Instead, it focuses on:
- Increased stability and minor bug fixes.
- Full support for Wi-Fi 7 in enterprise networks (an advancement over the partial support introduced with version 24H2).
- A new group policy allowing IT administrators to uninstall certain pre-installed apps from the Microsoft Store.
In summary, version 25H2 is primarily a reliability update aimed at enhancing the overall performance of the system.
A New Support Cycle
The main benefit of this update is the restart of the support cycle. Installing Windows 11 version 25H2 will provide users with a new period of security updates and extended maintenance.
Support for Windows 11 version 24H2 will end on October 13, 2026. By upgrading to 25H2, users extend their support until October 12, 2027.
