Galaxy S23: Android 16 (One UI 8) finally available, here’s how to install it

Galaxy S23 Users Finally Receive Stable One UI 8 Update. This update, based on Android 16, brings a plethora of new features to the smartphone. We’ll guide you through the installation process.


Android 16 continues its rollout at Samsung, which is also preparing One UI 8.5. Meanwhile, the overlay is becoming available for an increasing number of Galaxy devices. Following its stable launch a few weeks ago, the final version is now available for the Galaxy S23, as well as its Plus and Ultra variants.

How to Install One UI 8 on the Samsung Galaxy S23?

Beta testers receive priority access to this update, which is about 300 MB in size for them, while other users will download approximately 3 GB. The firmware includes the September 2025 security patch but does not have the update for October.

Here’s how to install One UI 8 on the Galaxy S23:

  • Open Settings
  • Go to Software Update
  • Select Download and Install
  • Initiate the download for the One UI 8 update
  • Tap Install Now
  • Allow the Galaxy S23 to restart and complete the installation

One UI 8 introduces several new features for the Galaxy S23, particularly in terms of interface and functionality. Quick Share, Samsung Internet, and My Files have all received a refreshed design. Additionally, the Modes and Routines feature offers users more actions to automate tasks. The Alarms, Calendar, and Reminder applications also have new options for better daily organization.

The Secure Folder enhances data protection, while DeX includes screen rotation options. DeX now leverages the Android 16 desktop mode, upgrading the mobile desktop experience for Samsung devices, with external displays supported to boost productivity.

Of course, Samsung is gradually rolling out One UI 8, starting with the newest models. The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 were the first to receive Android 16, and now the Galaxy S23 has joined the list. We still await updates for the high-end smartphones from the previous generation, as well as for mid-range models eager for the new features of Android 16.
