OPPO Reno 15 Pro: A New Dimensity 8500 Processor Expected, Launch Scheduled for November

OPPO is gearing up to refresh its popular Reno lineup, and according to a recent leak, the Reno 15 Pro is set to debut with the new MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chip.

This information comes from leaker Smart Pikachu, who has recently discussed several smartphones currently in development featuring this mid-range to high-end chip, including OPPO’s upcoming Pro model.

A Technological Continuity for OPPO

For several generations, OPPO has relied on MediaTek’s 8000 series processors for its Pro Reno models:

  • The Reno 13 Pro featured a Dimensity 8350,
  • The Reno 14 Pro was powered by a Dimensity 8450,
  • And the Reno 15 Pro is expected to logically upgrade to the latest Dimensity 8500.

This strategy enables OPPO to offer well-balanced smartphones, combining high performance, energy efficiency, and competitive pricing, a formula that has contributed to the success of the Reno series.

Dimensity 8500: An “All-Rounder” Chip for 2026

The MediaTek Dimensity 8500 has yet to be officially unveiled, but early reports suggest it will be a versatile chipset capable of competing with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

According to Smart Pikachu, several manufacturers are currently developing smartphones around this chip, each focusing on a distinct strength:

  • Some models will be balanced “all-rounders,”
  • Others will prioritize photography, featuring 200-megapixel sensors and periscope telephoto lenses,
  • While others will focus on battery life, sporting 10,000 mAh batteries (!).

Brands Involved: OPPO, Redmi, Honor, and Realme

In addition to OPPO, several manufacturers are already preparing Dimensity 8500 smartphones: Redmi Turbo 5, Honor Power 2 (announced with a massive 10,000 mAh battery), and the Realme Neo 8 series.

However, according to leaks, OPPO is expected to lead the charge with the Reno 15 Pro/Pro+, set to launch as early as November 2025 in China.

The OPPO Reno 15 series is expected to include three variants, featuring different screen sizes and configurations:

  • 6.3-inch model: LTPS OLED 1.5K display with periscope sensor,
  • 6.59-inch model: LTPS OLED 1.5K display, a Samsung 200-megapixel HP5 main sensor + periscope zoom,
  • 6.78-inch model: LTPO OLED 1.5K display, 200-megapixel HP5 sensor also with periscope.

The Reno 15 Pro and Pro+ are expected to be positioned at the top of this lineup, taking advantage of the new Dimensity 8500 chip, while the base model may retain a more modest configuration.

A Reno 15 Pro Designed for Versatility

With the Dimensity 8500, a 200-megapixel camera, and increasingly immersive OLED displays, the Reno 15 Pro promises to be a significant evolution in OPPO’s strategy. The brand continues to refine its formula: style, performance, and balance, without succumbing to the high-end race.

If the rumors hold true, the Reno 15 Pro/Pro+ could be the first smartphones in the world to feature the Dimensity 8500, marking a new milestone in OPPO’s collaboration with MediaTek.
