Galaxy Z TriFold: Will the triple-fold smartphone finally have the 100x zoom of the Galaxy S Ultra?

While the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has already impressed with its slim design and durability, its highly anticipated successor, the Galaxy Z TriFold, may represent a significant turning point in the history of foldable smartphones.

This time, the focus is on photography.

100x Zoom on a Foldable: A First for Samsung?

A leak spotted by insiders @TechHighest and @evowizz on X reveals several animations showcasing the Galaxy Z TriFold’s interface. While most highlight multitasking features — such as drag-and-drop between panels and DeX mode for a desktop-like experience — one specific option caught attention: a digital zoom up to 100x in the camera app.

This would be an unprecedented feature for a Samsung foldable smartphone. Until now, even the latest Galaxy Z Fold 7 only offered a 3x optical zoom, significantly trailing behind the Galaxy S Ultra series, like the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which boasts a 5x periscope zoom (up to 100x digitally).

A 200 Megapixel Sensor to Support the Zoom

According to rumors, the Galaxy Z TriFold will also feature a 200-megapixel main sensor, similar to that of the S25 Ultra. This would be a major upgrade for the Fold lineup, which has often made compromises on photography in favor of slimness and foldability.

The combination of a 100x zoom alongside a dual telephoto module (including a periscope) would finally allow foldable smartphones to compete with flagship models in long-range photography.

A Triple Screen Without Compromise?

The Galaxy Z TriFold is set to be Samsung’s first triple-fold smartphone, featuring a design that folds in two places, providing three distinct panels for a nearly 10-inch unfolded surface.

Despite this mechanical complexity, Samsung aims for a controlled thickness without compromising the photography experience or the battery life. It’s worth noting that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 starts at 2,100 euros, and the Galaxy Z TriFold could exceed $2,500.

Possible Launch in November?

According to leaks, the Galaxy Z TriFold might be unveiled as early as November 2025 during a dedicated event. Besides its photographic capabilities, the interface already demonstrates an advanced multitasking experience, allowing multiple apps to run simultaneously, making calls through floating windows, and fully utilizing Galaxy AI.

If the rumors prove true, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold could usher in a new era for foldable smartphones, bringing the photographic performance of the Galaxy S Ultra to an even more innovative format.

Only time will tell if Samsung can strike the right balance between sleekness, power, battery life, and price. One thing is certain: the TriFold is already one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year.
