How to Activate Windows Studio Effects on Windows 11?
The latest versions of the operating system in the Dev and Beta channels now offer Windows Studio Effects for all cameras. Users can apply AI features to USB webcams or even a tablet’s camera. It’s important to note that this feature is not yet available in a finalized version for everyone.
Here’s how to activate Windows Studio Effects on Windows 11:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Bluetooth and devices.
- Click on Cameras.
- Select your camera (e.g., USB Camera).
- In the Available Windows Studio Effects section, click Open.
- In the Camera advanced options, enable Use Windows Studio Effects.
- Click Apply.
But why has Microsoft decided to extend this feature beyond PC Copilot+? The company explains this decision in a statement: “We are working to expand the Windows Studio Effects experience from the integrated cameras of laptops to a wider range of camera hardware, helping you to stay professional and look your best in more setups.”
Previously, Microsoft reserved AI features for PC Copilot+, but it seems that Windows 11 is now broadening its scope as the operating system has become more popular than Windows 10. Windows Studio Effects allows for enhancements in webcam calls, particularly in professional settings. Blurring the background helps maintain privacy, while correcting eye contact improves the impression of looking directly at the camera. Additionally, background noise reduction eliminates audio distractions.
