For years, the rumor of a foldable iPhone has circulated like an urban legend. Today, it seems more tangible than ever. The reason? Samsung Display, already Apple’s official screen supplier, has let the cat out of the bag.
At least, sort of. The company’s president inadvertently revealed that they are currently preparing foldable panels for a mysterious North American client. No name was dropped, but it’s hard not to think of Apple. The tech giant might just be getting ready to fold its screens.
What do we know about this famous foldable iPhone?
According to leaks, this future model is set to impress. Tentatively called the iPhone Fold, it might feature Touch ID instead of Face ID. The absence of facial recognition could pave the way for an entirely notch-free design, enhanced by a 24 MP under-display camera, aiming for a seamless “all-screen” look without obstructions.
The folding technology isn’t merely a design gimmick. The device could sport a main screen of 7.74 inches, capable of folding without leaving any visible marks. It may also include a cover screen measuring 5.49 inches, effectively turning the smartphone into a portable mini-tablet, allowing for unparalleled versatility.
The thickness is reportedly 4.8 mm when unfolded, making it slimmer than the current iPad Air. In addition, it would feature two 48 MP rear cameras along with a selfie camera beneath the screen.
Understandably, such technological prowess will come at a hefty price. Rumors suggest approximately $1,999, which is higher than most MacBooks. A steep sum that might raise eyebrows, but the wait until September 2026 may provide enough time to save up without too much guilt.
