Oura Ring 4: Goodbye metal, will the new ceramic rings become a fashion accessory

Oura Ring 4: Finished with Metal, Are the New Ceramic Rings Going to Become a Fashion Accessory?

No fifth generation in sight for Oura this year. Instead, the brand is focusing on a new range of Oura Ring 4 made from more colorful and durable ceramic, along with accessories and new health features.

Oura Ring 4: New Colors and More Durable Finish

The new Oura Ring 4 in zirconium ceramic will be available in four colors:

  • Midnight (teal),
  • Petal (powder pink),
  • Tide (mint green),
  • Cloud (white).

Unlike metallic finishes, the color is embedded in the material: there’s no risk of fading over time. However, the ceramic is so hard that it could scratch certain metals.

However, these models are thicker and heavier than their metal counterparts:

  • Thickness: 3.51 mm (vs. 2.88 mm),
  • Weight: from 5.1 to 8.1 g (vs. 3.3 to 5.2 g).

Oura now encourages the idea of alternating multiple rings for different occasions. The app supports multi-ring functionality, allowing effortless switching between two active rings, similar to the Apple Watch.

The brand is also launching a recycling program to return your old models when upgrading.

A Charging Case Finally Available… But Optional

A significant new feature: Oura is offering an aluminum charging case.

  • Compatible only with your ring size,
  • Offers up to 5 full charges,
  • Complete recharge in 90 minutes via USB-C,
  • Includes a status light.

The rings sold by default still come with the classic dock.

Health Panels: Blood Tests and Integrated Tracking

Oura is also enriching its app with a service called Health Panels:

  • Ability to book a blood test at a Quest Diagnostics center,
  • Access to 50 biomarkers related to cardiovascular and metabolic health,
  • Results available in the app, validated by a healthcare professional,
  • Possible interaction with Oura Advisor, an AI chatbot that provides explanations but not medical diagnoses.

The tests cost $99. The service is currently available only in the United States, excluding Arizona, Hawaii, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island for regulatory reasons.
