Microsoft is continuing to push forward in the AI space, and it shows. After integrating Copilot directly into Windows 11 for seamless interactions, the company is now unveiling Vibe Working. This initiative includes tools designed to streamline the work of users.
How Does Microsoft’s Vibe Working Function?
Vibe Working aims to enhance productivity within Office. Instead of performing tasks manually, users can simply provide a straightforward prompt. The AI then takes over, executing the necessary steps.
The idea is to revolutionize how one works with Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) using AI agents.
So, how does it work? Vibe Working first features a Agent Mode, intended to automate heavy tasks.
In Excel, for example, it can generate a monthly financial report from existing data. It can also create a loan simulator and other tools. In short, the AI becomes a reliable financial assistant.
In Word, the agent is equally efficient. It can correct formatting, update tables, or adjust pagination. No more wasting time navigating through menus.
Vibe Working also includes Office Agent, integrated into Copilot Chat. In this case, the AI manages everything based on a simple conversation. The agent creates or modifies the document, then returns it ready to use.

You can get your hands on Microsoft’s Vibe Working today. The much-anticipated Agent mode for Copilot in Excel and Word is already available.
However, it is not open to everyone. For now, only subscribers of the Microsoft 365 Frontier program have access, which includes Personal and Family plans.
If you are eligible, you should already see the option appear in Copilot for Word. To utilize the Agent mode in Excel, you will need to take an additional step by downloading the Excel Labs extension offered by Microsoft.
Currently, the program is primarily available to users in the United States. Microsoft plans to expand access to other regions in the coming months. For now, those outside the U.S. will have to wait.
