One UI 8.5 makes its debut on the Galaxy S24+: here are the expected new features

One UI 8.5 makes its debut in beta for the Galaxy S24+ following the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy Z Fold 7. This update is based on Android 16, which has just recently been released in a stable version across several Samsung devices.

Recently, One UI 8 has been rolled out to a variety of smartphones, particularly the latest high-end models. Now, a beta version of One UI 8.5 has been spotted on Samsung’s servers, revealing some potential new features.

Here Are The New Features Coming With One UI 8.5

This experimental firmware is listed as “newfound test firmware.” It is a test version designed for the international edition of the Galaxy S24+, model number SM-S926B. With this firmware being on Samsung’s servers, it’s clear that the update is at least being prepared for this range marketed in 2024.

One UI 8.5 has also been spotted in a test version for the brand-new Galaxy S25 in international model SM-S938B, as well as the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 7. At this time, there is no release schedule for this update, though previous rumors have hinted at expected improvements.

The Phone app is set to undergo a major redesign. Its tabs will no longer span the entire width of the screen but will instead be grouped into a pill-shaped element at the bottom of the screen.

The app will also feature Direct Voicemail, a functionality akin to Live Voicemail on iOS. This tool transcribes incoming voice messages in real-time. Samsung is focusing on modernizing the voicemail experience with One UI 8.5.

The Studio app will also receive a new navigation bar. Other anticipated changes include a redesigned interface for Device Care, a reimagined startup screen for the Galaxy Store app, and an update to the app launcher. Samsung continues to enhance its user interface based on Android 16.
