ROOT Data Center is pleased to announce the completion of construction of phase 1 of their next generation Tier 3, carrier neutral data center in Montreal, Canada. The facility is designed to support over 500 server racks and 5MW of power. Construction, on the data center started May 5th, 2014 and was completed on schedule and budget in September 2014.

“We are pleased that our 1MW, 250 rack, phase one deployment was completed on schedule and under budget. Our rapid construction methodology enabled us to complete construction in early July but we waited until September to open due to permitting delays.” Said CEO Jason van Gaal “We believe that Montreal has a growing data center market, where we have seen a strong demand from price sensitive cloud and SAAS clients looking for energy efficient and reliable data centers. Pre-sales demand was much stronger than anticipated, thanks in large part to our next generation high density cooling capabilities. We have pre-sold over 60% of our space. One client is currently operating at a density of over 22kW/rack in 12 racks.”

ROOT Data Center is able to cool over 30kW/rack. It is Montreal’s only Tier 3 data center able to cool rack densities in excess of 10kW/rack. Affordable colocation space in next generation data centers will play an ongoing roll in the growth and prosperity of local IT companies.

ROOT Data Center will be hosting a Grand Opening celebration for the public and clients on October 16th, 2016. Those interested in attending the event in Montreal can contact for additional information.
