Open-Xchange, creators of open source communication, collaboration and office productivity software, has announced the launch of OX-as-a-Service (OXaaS), a fully hosted and managed version of the OX App Suite. OX-as-a-Service has been developed for telcos and hosting companies that wish to offer customers innovative cloud-based communication, collaboration and productivity tools without the need to build their own infrastructure.

Open-Xchange supplies cloud and hosting providers, as well as telcos with a customer engagement platform that drives customer retention and recirculation. OX software is white-label ready, giving Cloud and service providers the flexibility to drive their own brand identity and create attractive product bundles across their ecosystem.

OX-as-a-Service offers all the features of the OX App Suite including email, calendar and contact organization; editing and creating Microsoft Office format documents with OX Documents; powerful file sync and cloud storage with OX Drive.

Key benefits of OX-as-a-Service include:

• Reduced initial investment and risk associated with introducing new cloud-based products
• Rapid deployment of OX App Suite, accelerating time-to-market of value-adding cloud services and applications
• White-label ready allowing the delivery of branded cloud services to help fight churn, increase ARPU (average revenue per user) and grow brand recognition
• Eliminates upfront investment in hardware, software and personnel, reducing TCO and capital expenditure
• First class management and support directly from the company that developed the software with a flexible selection of SLAs to suit all businesses
• OX Performance Program – a comprehensive business support program that provides tailor-made best practices and collateral ensuring a smooth go-to-market and continued business success.

“One of the biggest challenges facing service providers that want to offer customers new cloud apps and services is the development of the infrastructure required to host these products,” said Rafael Laguna, CEO, Open-Xchange. “With OX-as-a-Service we have developed a turnkey solution for service providers that want to rapidly roll out new revenue generating services to customers with minimum fuss.”

Among the first Open-Xchange partners to deploy OX-as-a-Service is Telecom Italia Digital Solutions (Telecom Italia Group), an international provider of cloud services for small and medium companies.

“Business-class email, scheduling, file management and social networking are all killer applications for small and mid-sized businesses as well as for consumers. OX App Suite meets these requirements and capabilities, delivering them under a single modern integrated user interface,” said Riccardo Jelmini, Director of Cloud and OTT of Telecom Digital Solutions, Telecom Italia. “OX-as-a-Service allows us to focus on our core business objectives while offering a great service to our customers.”

OX as a Service supports Application Packaging Standard (, which makes it easy to integrate OX App Suite into Parallels Plesk Panel and Parallels Automation. This integration enables end users to administrate cloud services themselves in a unified interface. Using Parallels Automation ensures immediate provisioning at the time of purchase, providing end users with a streamlined purchasing and activation experience. In addition, service providers can keep their operational costs to a minimum through automated billing.

“In a time when operator margins eroding at an accelerated rate, cloud services present the greatest opportunity for telcos and ISPs to increase ARPU and promote customer loyalty,” said John Zanni, Chief Marketing Office, Parallels. “With OX-as-a-Service and Parallels Automation, the cost and time to market is greatly reduced. By leveraging Open-Xchange as a Service, our partners can quickly and simply give what businesses want now.“
