GlobalSign Achieves Candidate Status for Direct Trust Agent Accreditation Program (DTAAP)

Web Hosting NewsBoston, MA – GlobalSign (, the enterprise SaaS Certificate Authority (CA), today announced it is a candidate for the Direct Trust Agent Accreditation Program (DTAAP) for Registration Authorities (RA) and Certificate Authorities (CA) from and the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC).

DTAAP is a trust program for Healthcare Information Service Providers (HISPs) that need to exchange sensitive information with each other. By establishing trust standards, individual agreements do not have to be worked out between every HISP, limiting liability, simplifying agreements, and creating best practices for exchanging patient data. To ensure that the sensitive health information is exchanged securely, HISPs in the program use Digital Certificates to sign and encrypt messages and attachments. The role of RAs and CAs within the program is to verify the identities of the HISPs using the certificates, as well as provide and support certificate issuance, management, and revocation services.

Acceptance into the program consists of an intense self-assessment and third-party review of GlobalSign’s ability to conform with the latest reform legislation – especially those regulations that focus on the privacy, security and confidentiality of healthcare data. By awarding candidate status, DTAAP is recognizing GlobalSign’s commitment to high standards in these areas.

EHNAC’s Executive Director Lee Barrett shared his perspective on GlobalSign’s efforts, saying “GlobalSign joins a select group of healthcare leaders dedicated to improving the quality of care delivery by enhancing the transactional quality, operational efficiency and data security of protected health information. We look forward to working with GlobalSign through this process – using best practices and proven standards to ensure the trusted exchange of data.”

“We’re excited and proud that our commitment to high standards and building online trust have been recognized by DTAAP,” said Lila Kee, Chief Product and Marketing Officer, GMO GlobalSign Inc. “Making security accessible and easy to use is very important to us, so we’re honored to be a part of a program like DTAAP that is standardizing and simplifying the secure exchange of information for HISPs.”

To achieve full accreditation, GlobalSign’s policies and processes will go through a vigorous audit process conducted by Direct Trust and EHNAC. Once fully accredited, GlobalSign certificates will be approved for use by HISPs within DTAAP to secure the exchange of sensitive health information.

GlobalSign plans to complete the audit and achieve full accreditation within the upcoming months. Status updates can be found via –
