Web Hosting NewsHOUSTON – CyrusOne, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cincinnati Bell (NYSE: CBB) and preeminent enterprise data center colocation solutions provider, has purchased its 175,000-square-foot Houston West site, which includes the LEED® Silver certified building it currently occupies and CyrusOne’s new data center that is under construction and adjacent to the existing facility.

Upon closing this deal, CyrusOne becomes the only data center facilities provider in Houston that directly owns the structure and land on which its data centers are located. When construction of the new facility is complete, the two data centers at the Houston West site will offer a combined 175,000 square feet of space, 36 megawatts of power, and connectivity that links to CyrusOne’s other Houston data center located in the Galleria area.

“Most data center providers today do not own their properties. However, we are continually listening to our customers’ concerns and requests, and purchasing this property is another example of our commitment to respond to the demands of their businesses,” said Gary Wojtaszek, CEO and president, CyrusOne.

“As more and more Fortune 500 customers move to an outsourced data center model—securing as much as 50,000-square-feet of data center space—CyrusOne offers them the added reassurance that they are moving to a location they can stay in for many years. Owning the Houston West facility provides a significant level of financial security to our customers,” continued Wojtaszek. “And serving as both, data center provider and landlord, eliminates an extra layer of bureaucracy to work through when trying to respond to customer changes. This enables CyrusOne to move even faster when trying to resolve customer requests.”

Strategically, CyrusOne plans to purchase more land as it pursues its growth initiatives and has invested over $100 million of capital over the past twelve months. In addition to the Houston purchase, CyrusOne also purchased 60 acres of land in Phoenix, 116 acres of land in Lebanon, Ohio and is looking for further opportunities to expand in other parts of the country.

CyrusOne worked with Panattoni Development Company, the developer and owner of the project.

“We are happy to be part of CyrusOne’s rapid growth in the Houston area. Beltway 8 Corporate Center offers CyrusOne an ideal combination of infrastructure, convenient access and capacity for continued growth,” said Don Dennis, partner, Panattoni Development Company.
