“Last Tuesday’s announcement by IANA regarding the final allocation of IPv4 addresses brings to light the importance of IPv6 transition and why Internet carriers must take the lead,” said Martin Levy.  “If companies and ISPs want to be in business a year from now and want to avoid the possibility of enormous capital expenditures, IPv6 should be on the minds of everyone in the enterprise – all the way up to the C-suite.”

Hurricane Electric’s global Internet backbone is one of the few that is IPv6-native at every customer connection.  First deployed on Hurricane Electric’s Internet backbone in 2001, IPv6 is offered as a core service and every customer is provided IPv6 connectivity.  In addition to operating the world’s largest IPv6 network, Hurricane Electric connects to more than 1,100 associated IPv6 networks.

To provide IPv6 best practices to the networking community, Hurricane Electric launched an IPv6 YouTube channel that provides weekly updates on IPv6 developments like new network administrator tools.  Hurricane Electric also offers popular IPv6 certification, Tunnel Broker and Free DNS Services.  Recently, Martin Levy authored an article on enterprise IPv6 adoption.
