Web HostingSAN MATEO, CA – newScale®, Inc., pioneers of the self-service IT storefront for the enterprise, today announced it will support the VMware vCloud API, a key component of the VMware vCloud initiative. Enterprises and service providers integrating with the VMware vCloud API can now use the newScale FrontOffice™ Suite to effectively manage and control self-service requests for cloud resources as well as their physical and virtual environments.

“We are excited to announce newScale’s support for the VMware vCloud API and the vCloud initiative. This strong relationship with VMware is key to providing our enterprise and service provider customers with the tools they need to maximize the ROI from virtualization and their private or hybrid cloud deployments,” said Scott Hammond, president and CEO of newScale. “We have many joint customers with VMware, and this new support will provide them with even more seamless integration from newScale software to VMware technologies.”

The VMware vCloud initiative brings together leading technology from VMware, a huge ecosystem of technology and cloud service providers, and compatibility for all applications living in the cloud, on or off premise. The VMware vCloud initiative enables businesses to leverage service provider offerings within their private or hybrid cloud. The result is that business users can access infrastructure resources how and when they choose, while IT teams can manage the security, compatibility, and compliance issues associated with delivering cloud-like convenience to application business owners and developers.

newScale delivers Service Catalog solutions that enable IT to provide a “menu” of standardized service packages and a self-service storefront for IT services. This makes it possible for IT organizations to adopt a cloud-like operating model where business users have easy, yet controlled, access to the IT services they need – for physical resources, virtual machines, and internal or external cloud environments.

“We are pleased to welcome newScale as the newest member of the VMware vCloud ecosystem,” said Dan Chu, vice president, cloud infrastructure and services, VMware. “As a VMware TAP program member, newScale offers valuable solutions to complement our virtualization and cloud technologies. We are excited that newScale and its roster of customers will be able to fully benefit from the VMware vCloud initiative.”

newScale recently introduced a major new release, newScale 9, with self-service ordering and lifecycle management for desktop and data center services across cloud, virtual and physical compute environments.
