Web Host NewsCHARLOTTE, N.C. – Peak 10, Inc., the leading independent data center operator and managed services provider, is reminding businesses to test their disaster recovery plans as the 2009 hurricane season gets underway. Peak 10 is also recommending that organizations consider a multi-geographic strategy to ensure the protection of mission-critical data.

With more than a dozen enterprise-class data centers in the United States including Tampa and Jacksonville, Fla., Peak 10’s facilities are interconnected by a high performance, fully-redundant private network that allows its customers to back up their data real-time in multiple geographic locations.

[swfobj src=”” width=”300/250″ class=”border: 1px solid grey;” align=”right”] Peak 10 is encouraging all organizations to closely review their current disaster recovery and business continuity programs. Whether through the threats of natural disaster, cyber attack, or simple human error, all networks are vulnerable to data loss. A successful data recovery plan can minimize the damages such as loss of critical data, business downtime, and reductions in employee productivity and company revenue.

“Customers that utilize multiple facilities for disaster recovery solutions enjoy the peace of mind they feel particularly as hurricane season begins. Many of our customers benefitted from this strategy last year as Hurricane Ike made its way up to the Ohio Valley,” said Jeff Spalding, executive vice president of market operations for Peak 10. “We fully recognize the importance of having effective emergency plans in place and regularly conduct business continuity assessments so we can help guarantee the safety and security of our client’s technology infrastructure and critical data in the face of disaster.”

This year’s hurricane season on the Atlantic seaboard, which began June 1 and lasts through Nov. 30, is expected to be of near-normal activity according to the annual U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) report. An average season has 11 named storms, including six hurricanes with two becoming major hurricanes. The NOAA predicts a 70 percent chance of 9 to 14 named storms, including four to seven detrimental hurricanes.
