Web Hosting NewsPodgorica, Montenegro – Today the .ME Registry and Notify.Me announced the launch of its new and innovative .ME Web site. This unique new service allows anyone to receive near real-time alerts when their favorite Web sites are updated. Alerts can be received in a variety of ways including mobile devices, instant messenger, desktop application, email and Internet browser.

“We are pleased to see sites like Notify.Me develop so soon after the opening of public registration for dot-ME domains,” said Predrag Lesic, the registry’s executive director. “This site truly embodies the value proposition of dot-ME domains, which are all about YOU!”

The Notify.Me service monitors information sites that users find valuable and sends them notifications when new information is posted. “Notify.Me eliminates the need to constantly check Web sites where being the first to respond makes all the difference,” said Jason Wieland, CEO of Notify.Me. “Unlike our competitors, Notify.Me updates in near real-time so our users will get first choice on the items they’re trying to buy online, they can stay up-to-date with their social networks, or be the first to know about news they’re interested in. We selected a dot-ME domain, because the branding fits with our marketing strategy and the name Notify.Me directly conveys what our service does,” added Wieland.

Notify.Me was founded earlier in 2008 by a team of engineers and entrepreneurs, with an expertise in building scalable architecture and who had previously worked together at MP3.com. Notify.Me was launched in June 2008 as a private beta service and opened for public release on November 10, 2008. In the month since launching, the site has already added over 4000 new users and is close to announcing some exciting new partnerships.

.ME domains first became available earlier in 2008 and opened for public registration in June 2008. Live, real-time registrations opened on July 17, 2008. To date the registry has over 175,000 registrations.
