Bluelock Announces Upgrade to VMware vCloud Director 1.5
Web Host News – Indianapolis, Ind. – Bluelock, a certified VMware vCloud® Datacenter provider of Virtual Datacenters hosted in the public cloud, today announced the availability of VMware vCloud® Director™ 1.5 within its certified VMware vCloud Datacenter Service. With the upgrade of its public cloud to vCloud Director 1.5, Bluelock will provide its customers an updated user interface and added functionality for more efficient and secure management of virtual datacenters hosted in the public cloud.
VMware vCloud Director and VMware vSphere® pool datacenter resources including compute, storage and networking into virtual datacenters, offered to users on-demand, enabling IT organizations to build private clouds and move workloads back and forth between their private cloud and the Bluelock vCloud Datacenter service. “Customers are increasingly adopting VMware vCloud Datacenter Services to augment their existing infrastructure and gain the flexibility and cost advantages of a hybrid cloud,” said Dan Chu, vice president, cloud Infrastructure and services, VMware. “VMware is happy to see Bluelock rolling out our latest VMware vCloud Director technology. Unlike rigid commodity clouds where the application has to be customized to fit the design of the cloud, Bluelock can deliver cloud agility and economics with the flexibility, compatibility, security and quality of service that today’s enterprise applications demand.”
“As a leading VMware vCloud Datacenter provider partner we are excited to get VMware vCloud technologies implemented in our cloud and out to our customers” said Pat O’Day, chief technology officer, Bluelock. “With today’s enterprise IT facing growing pressure to increase business agility while lowering costs, vCloud Director continues to better enable our clients to build secure clouds, transforming the way IT procures, delivers and manages infrastructure services.”
VMware vCloud Director 1.5 enhancements now accessible to Bluelock clients:
• Self-service virtual private network (VPN) – Users will now be able to configure and manage their VPN configurations from within the vCloud Director General User Interface (GUI).
• Automatic VPN (vCloud Director to vCloud Director) – Networks can be securely and automatically linked between two Virtual Datacenters.
• Full source-based firewall rules – Users can specify source IP addresses and ports when creating firewall policies.
• vCloud API 1.5 – The vCloud Director API has been enhanced to support more features and better integration.
• vApp Custom Attributes – A VMware vSphere vApp™ can now be assigned custom attributes (metadata) which can help with better automation and customization of deployments.
• Network card control – Some virtual appliances require specific network adapters. vCloud Director 1.5 allows full control of the virtual network interface cards (NICs) that are assigned to a virtual machine (VM).
Bluelock Virtual Datacenters take minutes to set up, either through the vCloud Director-based self-service interface or with Bluelock’s managed services team. Customers can build new virtual machines (VMs) quickly from public and private catalogs of VM templates, or simply upload VMs they already have running in an environment. With Bluelock Virtual Datacenters, customers can easily add or remove capacity as they go, paying for only what is used. With the ability to upload and download any VMware-compatible workloads, customers can easily migrate to and from the Bluelock Virtual Datacenter via VMware vCloud Connector. The solution is built on open standards with OVF packaging for the transport of workloads and interoperability, with additional support for the VMware vCloud API.
VMware vCloud Director 1.5 is immediately available in Bluelock Virtual Datacenter offerings. To learn more about Bluelock or its VMware vCloud Datacenter Service and features, please contact Bluelock at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.bluelock.com.
